The blog rules are meant to facilitate the objective of the blog and to make it work reasonably smoothly and effectively. The objective of this blog is to engage people from British Columbia in debate about our times and circumstances and the opportunities that await in an independent nation. You can't engage people in debate with comments that are defamatory, personal attacks, contribute nothing intelligent to the topic, or are not related.
The Rules
Use of this blog shall be taken to be acceptance on your part of the remainder of these rules.
Personal attacks are not allowed, with a few exceptions that are for the most part the privelege of the Editors. For example, you may not say that Stephen Harper is a lying thief, because that is not true in any private sense, and is probably an extreme statement if it is some political comment. But you may say that George Bush is a lying war criminal, for that statement is literally true and is being said by tens of millions around the world already at any rate. Generally, the rule is that you may say that something said is stupid, but you may not say that the person who said it is stupid, unless, once again using the Bush example, you are expressing a widely held belief about that individual.
Any comment of a personal nature that is allowed may only be entered if your actual name is used. You may not comment adversely about a real individual when you yourself are using a false name. You may comment adversely about a political idea advanced by a person while using a false name, however.
You may not threaten anyone on this blog, nor use this blog for any criminal purpose whatsoever.
The Cold Eye reserves the right to require membership in the blog prior to posting comments.
All comments to the Cold Eye may be deleted or edited at the sole discretion of a Cold Eye editor. If you don't like what we have edited appearing under your name, email us at editor@coldeye.org and we will delete your comment if you wish. We edit for uniformity of quality, not uniformity of ideas, but we do edit. If starting sentences without a capital is an expression of your personal protest against conformity, you might not find an outlet for that expression in the Cold Eye.
